An Automatic Ultrasonic Cleaning Line
An Automatic Ultrasonic Cleaning Line
Whether cleaning surgical instruments or engine components, industrial ultrasonic cleaners remove contaminating residues without the need for abrasive scrubbing and harsh chemicals.automatic ultrasonic cleaning line A high-frequency sound wave process called cavitation produces millions of microscopic bubbles that penetrate crevices and blind holes to dissolve tenacious soils. These high-powered cleaners also streamline processes by reducing labor and machine time while maintaining consistent results.
Industrial ultrasonic cleaners are found in manufacturing, medical, sports, printing, electronics and electroplating operations, as well as in laboratories and weapon processing.automatic ultrasonic cleaning line They are also used for sterile processing of surgical devices, lenses, watches, and dental and optical instruments.
An automatic ultrasonic cleaning line is comprised of an electronic ultrasonic generator, a tank with transducers, and a basket or container to hold the items being cleaned. The ultrasonic generator converts AC electrical energy to electrical pulses that energize the transducers at an ultrasonic frequency. The transducers then create mechanical (pressure) waves in the cleaning solution for vibratory ultrasonic cleaning action. The system is programmed for several modes, including Sweep (slight, continuous variation in frequency that uniformly distributes ultrasonic power eliminating hot spots which can damage delicate parts and dead zones where the ultrasonic waves do not reach), Degas (on/off cycling to remove the cavitation-inhibiting gas from fresh cleaning solutions), Pulse, or Dynamic.
The quality of the ultrasonic generator's piezoelectric crystal transducers impacts the machine's effectiveness. The higher the quality of the transducers, the longer they last and perform. Low-quality transducers typically begin to degrade, or fail, in as little as 3-6 years, with less-than-optimal performance.
A high-quality tank with a thick gauge of stainless steel is also important for long life. Ultrasonic tank erosion, caused by repeated application of high-energy frequencies to a relatively small volume of water, can occur in as few as a few months with low-quality tanks made from thinner grades of stainless steel. Signs of erosion include a gray appearance of the stainless steel and pitting of the bottom of the tank.
The most common frequency for industrial ultrasonic cleaners is 40 kHz, but a lower frequency may be better for some applications. A higher frequency is typically best for smaller parts, which require a more focused ultrasonic bubble formation to clean them.
An ultrasonic cleaning indicator is a valuable tool for evaluating the effectiveness of an automatic ultrasonic cleaner. It tests for time, temperature, chemistry, and cavitation using a synthetic test soil and foil strip to provide an objective independent test result.
